BOARD NO: 0112 GAME: Time Soldier MANUFACTURER: SNK DATE: 1987 HARNESS: JAMMA SYMPTOM (12/05/96) ------- Crashes immediately after reset and is then reset by the watchdog. SOLUTION -------- After the game had been on for a few minutes, flexing the board sometimes started the game. General poking and prodding around suggested the intermittance was somewhere near DSW1 where the program ROMS and RAMS were located. Cleaning and reseating the EPROMS had no effect and seemed to make the fault permanent. The EPROM data was fed directly off the 68K data bus and continuity of all the data lines from the 68K to the ROMS and RAMS was checked with a multimeter. D7 arrived at pin 19 of the EPROM but didn't arrive at pin 19 of the corresponding RAM. Following the traces revealed that D7 went into pin 1 of one of the INPUT84 devices before connecting to pin 19 of the RAM. There was no continuity there either and hence the trace must be broken at the EPROM pad. Adding a small wire link from the EPROM pin 19 to pin 1 of the INPUT84 fixed the game.
